Truthfully, I did not know what this next cycle’s theme would entail as of the last post on Friday, so I could not allude to or foreshadow it like I prefer. I was honestly exhausted, mentally drained by a magnitude or two1. Delving into forgiveness was challenging and heavy for me. I still have plenty of hard work ahead of me in that area. Unashamedly, I truly and freely admit that fact to y’all. I am a perpetual work or person in progress.
Can you guess the next cycle theme now?
True or false – this next cycle will focus on truth?2
Of all the animals,
man is the only one that lies.
-Mark Twain
This Mark Twain quote both amuses and saddens me. How painfully true is it? All the other creatures on Earth act and behave naturally. Yet, humans do not always act and behave naturally. Why is that? What if we each behaved and controlled ourself better? What a wonderful world that would be.
Our truth is in our lane. It is ready and waiting to be discovered. How many lies are covering it up? Lies you tell yourself; lies you hear from others. If you begin to unearth those lies, if you begin to find your truth, then you can build a better bridge in your lane.
Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth.
-Pema Chödrön
It can be frightening to finally face our truth; it can be easier to remain deluded and false. Which feels better, though? Which unlocks greater potential? It takes time and effort to sit with yourself and put in the work, unpacking untruths. I know it is far easier to remain distracted by all the glamorous, shiny things fighting for your attention outside your lane.
The truth will set you free. Sounds nice, right? Can you handle the truth? Are you ready to put in the work? Are you ready to pursue your truth? What are you waiting for? You can choose to start something new and true. We only have here and now. No day but today.
Maybe it is wise. Maybe it is dumb. Time will tell.
