When you begin to reach inner stillness,
you will learn what all to best harness.
It starts with slowing down and moving less.
Physical ease with a gentle mind at rest.
Can you begin to return to the basics?
Restore full vision as if you had LASIK.
Permit your mental lake to be still and placid.
Let it flow naturally. Do not dump in acid.
When you lose touch with your inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the world.
-Eckhart Tolle
The world is full of struggles and strife.
It is how we grow and make our best life.
We are not here for it all to be too easy,
but we can relax when it is gentle and breezy.
What is it like inside your head?
Overactive or practically dead?
Can you calm the storm, center your thoughts?
Practicing inner stillness will help you lots.
How tidy are things in your mental attic?
Organized well or chaotic and erratic?
When have you last tried to give it a clean?
Restore its luster, sparkle, and sheen.
Stillness and tranquility set things in order in the universe.
-Lao Tzu
We can all shine again with simple stillness.
It is with pursuing in order to reach wholeness.
We can slowly begin to piece together our puzzles.
Then, unafraid, we can take off our muzzles.
It does not mean that we need to speak.
Often that is how stillness begins to leak.
Quietly climb towards your next peak.
Stand at its top and find what you seek.
Being still does not mean don’t move. It means, move in peace.
-E’yen A. Gardner
Stillness works well from up on high,
but it also works well when low and dry.
It serves us well in all our best endeavors.
Utilize it well if you value being clever.
Maybe it is wise. Maybe it is dumb. Time will tell.
