logic vs. logorrhea
logic (noun) – the science that investigates the principles governing correct or reliable inference; the system or principles of reasoning applicable to any branch of knowledge or study; reason or sound judgment, as in utterances or actions; convincing forcefulness; inexorable truth or persuasiveness
logorrhea (noun) – pathologically incoherent, repetitious speech; incessant or compulsive talkativeness; wearisome volubility
In which doth the truth lie?
How rapidly did you connect logorrhea’s low-hanging fruit of a runny rhyme? It is verbal diarrhea, quick and messy. I listened to one person recently talk about mental diarrhea when we entertain many untruths in our head (e.g. doubt, fear, worry). How impeccable with your word are you when you trend or tend towards being logorrheic? I think it is poor, wasted energy. What is the point or result of gossip – comparison? Competition?? Holier than thou, or misery loves company??? Where is the truth there? It is unnecessary.
Logic, on the other hand, can be taken in hand by inner reflection of whatever is currently on hand. If we handle it well, then it can hand off recognition as far as what is sound or unsound. Logic can let us hear or sense what is true versus false; it is a science or art. Should sciences be seen as really nerdy arts? What is so wrong with that? Logical? Perhaps.
The fact that a great many people believe something is no guarantee of its truth.
-W. Somerset Maugham
Are you figuring facts out for yourself, or are you listening to the general consensus or a trendy new fad? Are you possibly even prescribed to a prehistoric predilection that permanently postpones purpose and progress due to perpetuated, perturbed, preconceived, and preposterous poop of the past? Perhaps. Perchance.
Pepto Bismol – that can help with diarrhea.
Spiritual practice (e.g. meditation and mindfulness) – that can help with logorrhea.
Let no act be done without a purpose, nor otherwise than according to the perfect principles of art.
-Marcus Aurelius
Truth heals, right?
Art heals; art is truth.
Truth heals.
Logic leads to truth;
logic leads to healing.
Truth is often buried deep inside. If we apply sound logic to explore our being, peeling back layers of deceit, from others as well as ourselves, we can begin to see glimpses of what lies within or beyond. We can start to feel the warm glow of our inner golden light.
Truth, like gold, is to be obtained not by its growth, but by washing away from it all that is not gold.
-Leo Tolstoy
We can each have our own pot of gold. It is not what most of us think it is, yet how often does that turn out to be the hand we are dealt already? Not much is what it seems, right? Do not ask me; I am merely a sugjester. Maybe it is wise. Maybe it is dumb. Time will tell.
