It feels like a very humble act to step away from a frivolous fight, yet it does not seem sensible to ever take the fight out of our own self. We have to be able to keep bouncing back from struggles and adversities; we fight for and with our lives. Human perseverance is often due to resilience. I heard this word too many times last week to keep ignoring it, and I finally realized today that we need it now more than ever because many of us feel so beaten down as of late. We may consider throwing in the proverbial towel, but that is not why we are here. We are here to persevere, and we can rebuild based on resilience.
Resilience in its most basic definition is the power or ability to return to original form. Restoring one’s full shape and wholeness. We will get sick, we will deal with suffering, and we will face challenges and setbacks. How will we best bounce back amidst all those trials and tribulations, though? Can we continue to do it with a broken heart?
Some days will be extremely difficult, but, in eventual hindsight, we can look back on those days proudly because we know that we prevailed. We still captained our own ship, and onward it sailed. Resilience rebuilds our lane whenever it may crumble or weaken. We can always start anew. Each passing moment grants us a chance to begin again.
Are you ready to return to your fullest and healthiest self? Do you remember a time when you were whole? I am not sure what that even means for me exactly, but I am excited to find out as I keep putting in the work and trending in that direction. Besides, I like the unknown thrill there. It motivates me to progress in order to discover even more.
Maybe it is wise. Maybe it is dumb. Time will tell.
