Wondersday – 102225

Have you ever wondered… about kaizen? I have. A friend introduced me to this term a couple months ago, and it immediately clicked in my brain as a powerful and hopeful concept. Kaizen is the patient practice of persistently improving upon your thoughts, actions, and behaviors, ideally each and every day to at least some degree. It is not a constant adjustment but a gradual work at being better in all that you are doing in life.

Someday all you’ll have to light the way will be a single ray of hope, and that will be enough.

Breaking the term down, I think of it as fire of the mind. Those are the two components of it from Japanese, kai and zen. At least, that is what I thought they were previously. Today I learned that I was wrong about kai in Japanese. It is more like the ocean or sea, so quite the opposite in fact. Well, how about that new knowledge for my improvement today? :)

Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.

Are you using your thoughts to improve your life on a daily basis? Can you determine how to live better? What adjustments (big or small) can you be making mentally, physically, and spiritually? Lately, I am keenly aware of my cyclical overthinking, so I started working with AI to strategize skills and tips to test out when I find myself slipping. I often file away internal nuggets of wisdom from interactions during each day. Do I not like how I replied in a moment of strong emotional turmoil? Did that person end the call in a toxic way? These reflections provide countless opportunities to identify better ways for me to show up in the future when I inevitably face a similar scenario.

I am very little inclined on any occasion to say anything unless I hope to produce some good by it.

Although the world is full of suffering, it is full also of the overcoming of it.

Kaizen makes me better each day in at least some small way. Sure, I slide backwards in probably all areas from time to time, but those (hopefully) brief setbacks or regressions allow me to review and refine even more with kaizen. With my mind’s fire (yes, I like the imagery enough that I am still sticking with it for this post), I can shine a light on any situation to see what to do differently (and ideally better) the next time. There is no end or finish line to this process. I plan on permanently implementing kaizen because I never want to stop improving. Can (and should) I take breaks and rest? Yes, but the cheeky side of me gets fired up at the thought of how to efficiently revise and reform in that area, too.

One accomplishment in life adds another hope for further accomplishment. This hope pulls us through. It would not be wrong to say that hope is the cause of decision. We are then driven to action for our dreams to come true.

Learning can be fun in my opinion. Turning it into a game of sorts certainly compels me to continually show up and whittle away at it. I plan on being a life-long learner because new knowledge is what enables me to identify additional areas to work on and augment for authentic and accurate awakening. After all, as the fire in my mind burns brighter, it is harder for me to stay asleep in the dark. I am much happier and more content basking and bathing in the warmth on a more routine basis. It helps me channel more love for all.

Let your hopes, not your hurts, shape your future.

There is always a way and always hope in the next sunrise, and in the next second, and in the next minute.

My hope is that we will all begin to see how well these productive and mindful skills collaborate with and complement one another. I am not sacrificing or compromising on any of my past beliefs and virtues to be hopeful. Instead, I am fortifying a firm foundation that fuels my future endeavors comprehensively and holistically. After all, my interests and values are still my own. I think we can and should be individualized in those ways. Kaizen can show you ways to better find your way to your best way if you care to try it out some along your way. Will you allow kaizen to weigh in on your life? I sure hope so.

Maybe it is wise. Maybe it is dumb. Time will tell. Stay wondrous, y’all :) <3
